Artist Statement:

“I DON’T LOOK FOR CONVENTIONAL OR ‘BEAUTIFUL’ LANDSCAPES FOR PAINTING; I STOPPED DOING THAT YEARS AGO.”

Biography:

Peter was born in 1942 in South Wales, Great Britain. He studied at the Newport College of Art and Leeds College of Art and University.

In 1966 he came to Canada, where he taught art at various universities and high schools in the Maritimes. He has lived in Saint John since 1973, teaching art at different high schools.

Peter retired from teaching in 2000 and now paints full-time. He has painted since he arrived in Canada in 1966, having various exhibitions across Canada as well as group and one-man shows. Recently he has shown in Dresden, Germany.

He was awarded Fellow of the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 1996.
