Biography:
Majed Abies is a local Saint John artist, where he maintains his art studio. In the late eighties and early nineties, Majed studied art at the Ottawa School of Art. He has over twenty years of professional experience as a visual artist, including eight years of teaching art at the Ottawa Board of Education and the Orleans Visual Art Center where he offered courses in painting, drawing, sculpture and pottery. In portrait drawing, Maj specializes in pastel and charcoal and works in one-hour sessions to bring to life the expressive quality of his subject; Maj never ceases to get a thrill from capturing the expression, characteristic and spirit of the sitter.
