Drawing and Sketching for Beginners

Workshop Description

Do you want to learn to draw but don’t know where to start? Join Kelly Cunningham as she guides you through the time-honoured, proven principles of good drawing and sketching. You will learn how to use different pencils for line quality, shading methods, and mark making techniques, while building knowledge of good composition, quality of light in your drawing and building form. This fun and informative workshop will erase any fears of the blank white page as you put pencil to paper in a welcoming environment. Supplies are included in the workshop fee.

Age group: 18+

Time: 1 – 3:00pm

Dates: Tuesday afternoons: May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4, 11

Duration: 6 weeks

Fees: $125 (includes materials)

Skill level: Beginner

Capacity: Maximum 8 students

About your Instructor

Kelly Cunningham is a drawing specialist, having majored in drawing while earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a veteran graphic designer with over two decades of experience, and has been the Promotions & Events Coordinator at the Saint John Arts Centre since 2006. Kelly is excited to teach Drawing and Sketching for Beginners, working with participants to expand their skills and have fun in a relaxed studio environment!
