Workshop Description

If you’re interested in learning to draw the human figure, or want to learn some strategies to make your drawings more successful, please join us for a Figure Drawing Workshop! We’ll be covering topics like gesture drawing, value, anatomy and proportion, as well as ways of approaching poses ranging from 1 minute to 30+ minutes in duration. We will be drawing from a live model, as well as photo references.

Age group: 16+ (participants under 18 must have a signed form from guardian)

Date: Wednesday July 17th and Thursday July 18th

Time: 10am-5pm (one hour for lunch)

Duration: 2 days

Fee: $185

Skill level: Beginner

Supplies: Students should bring their own supplies: Large Pad of Paper (18×24” Newsprint or Drawing Paper) Soft Drawing Pencil (6B recommended) Kneadable eraser

Artist Biography

Matt Watkins is an experienced figurative artist, oil painter and jeweller. He is a recipient of the Nel Oudemans Award and is an instructor at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. He has operated Earthforge Jewellery since 2005, and ran an art gallery in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick, for close to ten years. In addition to his work with NBCCD, Matt regularly participates in exhibitions, residencies, as well as teaching workshops throughout the province.
