Workshop Description
Curious about learning to draw with ink? Or maybe you already do and would like to build on those skills? The permanency of ink can be a bit daunting to many, but it can also be a lot of fun and produce beautiful effects in your work. In this workshop we’ll try to take some of the mystery out of the process and learn how to approach ink drawing with intention and understanding.
About ‘Inktober’:
Illustrator Jake Parker created ‘Inktober’ in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavour with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year, to do an ink drawing a day for every day of October.

About your Instructor
Melissa Kennedy is a visual artist and art instructor in New Brunswick, Canada. Melissa studied traditional methods of drawing and sculpting at The Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. After her graduation, she remained at the Academy for three years as a principle instructor of drawing, before moving back to Canada.
Melissa strives to capture and express the beauty and subtlety that exists in nature, by focusing on recreating the accuracy of the feeling through extended observation of a subject. Choosing the medium that best suits the purpose, she works with a variety of materials for both drawing and sculpture, including charcoal, pencil, ink and oil, and water-based clays.
