Works from Sculpture SJ 2022 Workshops

First Time for the Last Time  |  Library & Rotunda Galleries  |  January 13 – March 10, 2023

In the summer of 2022, Saint John Arts Centre had the wonderful opportunity to partner once again with Sculpture Saint John to offer workshops to the public during the International Sculpture Symposium.

With the assistance of generous funding by Sculpture Saint John sponsors, SJAC presented hands-on workshops, with the expert instruction of stone sculptor Charles Clark and foraged fibre artist Ralph Simpson. Some of the incredible results of these classes are showcased in this exhibit, created by members of the community, many of whom were sculpting or weaving fibre for the first time. This exhibit’s title is a fond reference to ‘First Time’, the title of the very first of these popular exhibitions of student work, as Sculpture Saint John draws to a close with a tremendous legacy of public art!

Featured artists are: Jordan Astorino-Fisher, Jared Craig, Kim Flewelling, Mike Flewelling, June Foley, Linda Foster, Alison Gayton, Signe Gurholt, Joan Hurst, Heather McCaig, Stephanie McHugh, Lily Morrow, Sarah Rogers, and instructors Charles Clark and Ralph Simpson.
