The Art Room: Let’s Paint

IMPORTANT COVID POLICY UPDATE

As of Monday, February 28/22, visitors to SJAC will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination.

Please note that out of an abundance of caution, SJAC will continue to keep a mandatory mask policy in place for all programs (workshops, galleries, performing arts events, rental events) after the Public Health restrictions are lifted on March 14/22. We will continue to monitor and reassess in the coming weeks.

Workshop Description

Watercolour and acrylics are explored through weekly exercises where students experience exciting techniques that produce different effects on paper and canvas board. Subjects range from still life to animals, plants, and other things that exist in nature. While learning the elements of art, students will develop an art vocabulary as they learn to talk about their work and the work of others. They will also see paintings made by artists of the past, and will learn fun facts about the artists they come to know!

Topics covered:

  • Watercolour and acrylic paint techniques
  • Art styles
  • Composition
  • Colour theory
  • Tools and materials
