Quilt or Sew with Margo (Nov. 2021)

IMPORTANT COVID POLICY UPDATE

 

As of September 22, 2021, some New Brunswick businesses will require Proof of Vaccination to access non-essential services. All of SJAC’s programs (workshops, galleries, performing arts events, rental events) fall under the included categories of services.

All people aged 12 and up will be required to show their record of immunization or medical exemption certificate and a government issued identification to be able to access our programs.

Workshop Description

Join Margo for a six-week quilting/sewing course and make a great pillow to gift to a friend or for yourself! You can choose between creating the pillow or bring your own project. (See supplies list and pattern for pillow below.)

Time: Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30pm

Dates: November 2 – December 7, 2021

Duration: 6 weeks

Fees: $95

Skill level: Beginner and Intermediate

‘Hello Friend Pillow’ Supplies and Pattern

Supplies needed: 

Fabric:

  • Text: 0.25m or FQ
  • Speech bubble: .25m or FQ
  • Background: 0.50m
  • Trim/edging: 0.25m or FQ
  • Lining (inside): 0.40m or light scrap
  • Pillow back: 0.50m

Other supplies:

  • Quilt batting (cotton/poly blend)
  • Thread 
  • 18” zipper
  • 20” pillow form

There is also the option of bringing a project of your choice, either a sewing or quilting project.

• portable sewing machine

About the Instructor

Margo has over thirty-five years of sewing experience and has an Education degree in Home Economics from the University of New Brunswick, Class of 1991. She has taught sewing to middle school students as well as youth and adult sewing courses for the City of Saint John Recreation Department for numerous years. Says Margo, “I take pride in providing sewing instruction in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Enjoy an evening out with your friends as you learn a new hobby!”
