Mixed media art breaks down the boundaries between various forms of art making. It can be messy while you learn how the media react to each other, but let your imagination soar! In this mixed media class you will explore a range of materials, theory, and techniques leading to the planning and execution of a finished artwork. Incised gesso, acrylic paint textures, collage materials and metal leaf combine to create beautiful compositions on canvas board and studio wood panels.
Wednesdays 7-9pm • Sept. 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 Nov. 4, 2020 (6 weeks) • Cost: $125, all supplies included
COVID-19 POLICY NOTE: As a public building, SJAC must follow the Government of New Brunswick’s Public Health guidelines on the coronavirus. In the unfortunate event that the local Saint John Zone must ‘move back’ to stricter social distancing policies and classes must be cancelled, participants will be refunded for the remaining classes.
About the Instructor:
Harriet Taylor DIPL, BBA, BFA, MEd
Harriet Taylor returned to her hometown of Saint John after a lengthy career at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD). Harriet has taught courses and workshops in Canada, the US, and the Caribbean, and was instrumental in developing the textile design program at NBCCD. During her years at the College she maintained a studio practice as a surface pattern designer for commercially printed textiles. Her designs have been featured on printed cloth in Canada, the US, and abroad. Her work can be found in the New Brunswick Provincial Collection, as well as in private collections across the continent.
Currently, Harriet has renewed her studio practice in Saint John, skilfully blending acrylic painting with mixed media techniques across a range of subject matter.
