Scratch Board Art
Supplies:
- Thick coloured paper
- Crayons
- Oil Pastels
- Paper towel
- Plastic knife
Before you begin:
Prepare your workspace by laying down a plastic tablecloth or old newspapers. Choose a light or vibrant colour of thick paper to begin your artwork. Remember, small is better- consider cutting a regular-sized piece of paper in half!
Step 1: Cover the entire page in crayon. A couple of layers work best! The lighter the colour of crayon the better as there will be more contrast from the dark pastel.
Step 2: Cover the age entirely in a dark colour pastel. I used black but any dark colour will work!
Step 3: Use a plastic knife to outline your drawing. Then start removing areas of pastel that you want the colour to show through.
Remember, this project will require that we reverse the way we usually draw. Instead of adding colour onto the paper, we will be subtracting dark pastel to show the colour underneath!
All done!
