Meet our Instructors: Melissa Kennedy

Melissa Kennedy is an artist and educator from New Brunswick. She began working with the Saint John Arts Centre in 2017 as an instructor of a summer workshop in Classical Figure Drawing. Since then she has taught workshops in Portrait Sculpture and Torso Sculpture, as well teaching the drawing component of the Portfolio development course in the fall of 2019.

Melissa started her career as a full time artist in 2016 when she graduated from the drawing and sculpture program of The Florence Academy of Art, a classical atelier style school in Florence, Italy that focuses on figurative art. She spent the following three years as a principle instructor at the academy before returning to NB. Since then she has broadened her scope of subject matter, and enjoys working on realistic works of animals and nature scenes as well as figurative and portrait work.

Melissa has had the opportunity to exhibit in group shows and sales in London, Barcelona, and New York. Her work is available here in New Brunswick through Gallery 78. And she is very excited to have recently moved into a studio in The Charlotte Street Arts Centre in Fredericton, to continue creating her work amongst an environment of creative and friendly individuals.
