SJAC is thrilled to welcome our new team of summer interns! This talented group bring lots of creative talent, and will be front and centre welcoming visitors, teaching our SPaRT! camps, taking over our social media, plus lots of works behind-the-scenes.
Maureen Levangie (left) is a third year Fine Arts student at Mount Allison University studying painting and sculpture. She was a part of the Portfolio Development Program when she was in high school, and last year she had a sculpture in a group show at the Arts Centre. Maureen is looking forward to learning about the Arts Centre and hopes to keep expanding her art practice by learning as many new techniques as possible.
Ciara Myshrall (centre) is a graduate of the Foundation Visual Arts program at NBCCD in Fredericton. She first became acquainted with the SJ Arts Centre when she attended the Portfolio Development Program. She has also attended three launches of The Write Stuff held at the Arts Centre when she had both art and poetry published in the magazine. In September, Ciara will be beginning her first year of the Ceramics program at NBCCD over a two-year studio course. She is looking forward to learning how to make glazes and fire the pottery in different ways. Ciara hopes to interact with lots of people visiting the Arts Centre this summer so she can share her love of the diverse creators featured in the Saint John galleries.
Marie Gauthier (right) is from Quebec. She is in Saint John for an exchange program through the YMCA to improve her English. She recently graduated high school and next year she will study sciences. She plays sports and she loves art. This is SJAC’s first year partnering with the YMCA for this program and we are very excited to have Marie on board!
