Join Ken Waiwood for a fun and informative intro course that will teach you the basics of stone sculpting! Topics include approaches to sculpting, basic design, how to choose stone, how to work safely using hand and power tools, how to finish and present sculpture. The course should appeal to both the beginner and highly motivated students who are interested in continuing with advanced techniques. The students will also create their own masterpiece from alabaster, and will take home a kit of tools to continue carving!
About the Instructor: Ken Waiwood has been turning stone from the Maritimes for over 15 years. He is a member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council and has exhibited nationally and internationally. Ken invites local stone carvers (the Chamcook Stoners) to his workshop once a week to work on various pieces.
