Wanderings

Gently scented beeswax graces long, slender scrolls of handmade Japanese paper – Washi. These lovely papers are created using time-honoured traditional methods perfected by generations of papermaking families. The paper yields and conforms to the demands of the beeswax while retaining its individual patterns and personality.

Each scroll has been lovingly and respectfully created by artist Tracey-Mae Chambers. The properties of the wax and paper have been embellished with natural elements that have been gathered and dried by the artist. These treasures are then hand sewn into each scrolls. This co-operative relationship results in peaceful decorative works.

The collection speaks to the artist’s relationship with her environment and her commitment to promoting discussion about western societies’ disconnect from it.
