Saint John Landscapes

Artist’s Statment

Many of Saint John’s buildings have been frozen in time for more than a century, creating a historic background for the everyday objects and fashions of today.

This show is a series of the city’s urban landscapes and the current culture animating these streets.

Sarah was born in Sussex, New Brunswick and left in 1997 to attend the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design as one of two recipients of the Centennial Entrance Scholarship. She spent the summer and fall of 2001 traveling throughout Europe painting.

In 2002 she returned settling in British Columbia, painting the forested West Coast landscape and the urban street life of Vancouver while becoming a journeyman cabinet maker. Sarah traveled to Jamaica in 2007 for the first time and fell in love with the people and painting its lush tropical landscape.

In June 2013 Sarah returned to Sussex to be closer to family and pursue her career as a full-time artist. Since that time, she has had two solo shows at the Sussex Art Gallery, May 2014 and May 2015.
