Artist Statement
My paintings represent my memories of places I have been, or places I would like to be.
From my travels, I take pictures and then I want to make them part of our family home. The colours in the pictures are never the same. That depends on the mood I am in when I start. Sometimes, it takes a long time to make it just right. I have to do some studying and comparing, even do some innovative techniques, but it is satisfying in the end. I don’t like to compare myself to other artists, because I don’t have their eyes and feelings.
Although I am not a formally trained artist, I studied many artists and their work, and that gives me the ability to create. A strong connection to life and nature also helps.
