Studio 65+: Drawing and Sketching for Beginners

As of September 22, 2021, some New Brunswick businesses will require Proof of Vaccination to access non-essential services. All of SJAC’s programs (workshops, galleries, performing arts events, rental events) fall under the included categories of services.

All people aged 12 and up will be required to show their record of immunization or medical exemption certificate and a government issued identification to be able to access our programs.

Do you want to learn to draw but don’t know where to start? Join Kelly Cunningham as she guides you through the time-honoured, proven principles of good drawing and sketching. You will learn how to use different pencils for line quality, shading methods, and mark making techniques, while building knowledge of good composition, quality of light in your drawing and building form. This fun and informative workshop will erase any fears of the blank white page as you put pencil to paper in a welcoming environment. Supplies are included in the workshop fee.

Monday afternoons, 1pm-3:30pm • October 18, 25, November 1, 8, 2021 (4 weeks) • Cost: $100 tuition plus $10 materials fee: $110 / With 20 % discount for seniors aged 65+, $80 tuition plus $10 materials fee: $90

About the Instructor:

Kelly Cunningham is a drawing specialist, having majored in drawing while earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is a veteran graphic designer with over two decades of experience, and has been the Promotions & Events Coordinator at the Saint John Arts Centre since 2006. Kelly is excited to teach in the Studio 65+ program, working with participants to expand their skills and have fun in a relaxed studio environment!
