Sewing: Tote Time!

It is tote time! Join Margo at the next sewing class as she leads you through making your very own tote bag. This three week course will help you navigate pattern reading, cutting, sewing and adding the final details of a versatile, useful tote! Once you make one, you can make more for friends and family!

Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm • March 12, 19, 26, 2019 (3 weeks) • Cost: $50 (supplies not included, see below)

Skill level: Beginner

Supplies & Equipment to bring:

Pattern: You will need to purchase the Wool & Wax Tote PDF pattern at: https://noodle-head.com/product-category/pdf-patterns ($7.00)

Material: (Based on 44” wide fabric)

  • ¾ yard exterior fabric
  • 1 yard lining fabric (non-directional)
  • ½ yard contrast bottom fabric
  • 2 ¼ yards fusible woven interfacing (Pellon SF101 – 20” wide)
  • Two (2) 1” wide leather handled or cotton webbing, 28” long
  • Optional: Three (3) 8-9 mm double cap rivets and setting tool
  • Recommended fabrics: Waxed canvas for contrast bottom. Cotton or blended canvas, waxed canvas, denim, wool, twill, home dec for exterior and lining. If substituting regular canvas for contrast bottom fabric, additional interfacing may be needed for desired structure (1/2 yard)

Additional supplies and tools:

  • Sewing machine and basic accessories (bobbins, pins, shears, etc.)
  • Size 14 or 16 denim needle
  • Polyester thread
  • Chalk or water-soluble pen
  • Turning tool
  • *We will have cutting mats, rulers, & rotary cutters available to use
